The Colorado football team seemed to attract twice as many detractors for every new supporter. The Colorado Buffaloes fired head coach Karl Dorrell a year after a dismal 1-11 campaign and hired former NFL great and Jackson State frontman Deion Sanders to take over as head coach. The divisive Sanders stormed the DI levels, bringing with him unheard-of transfers to Boulder, including top two-way player Travis Hunter and his two sons.
Colorado had a 4-8 record under the frequently vocal Sanders, a result that drew criticism. Sanders and company made extensive use of the transfer portal once more during the offseason in an effort to rebuild the roster. On the other hand, Sanders has maintained Colorado’s media attention by consistently garnering attention through interviews and posts on social media. On Wednesday, though, a purported critic appeared to be targeting another Colorado coach.

But Colorado is back in the spotlight, as head coach Philip Vigil of Colorado State-Pueblo is criticizing the program for allegedly interfe
ring with a high school commit. Vigil blasted Devin Rispress, the associate director of player personnel for Colorado football, for trying to sway a current player’s recruitment by texting him. In response to the claims, Rispress criticized Vigil and the DII program, although it is concerning how these accusations will affect the program.

On Wednesday, Division II head coach Philip Vigil gained notoriety by posting screenshots of Colorado football assistant director of player personnel Devin Rispress purportedly attempting to sway a high school commit’s recruitment. Vigil accused Rispress of tampering and questioned the regulatory body about the legitimacy of the activities in the screenshots, targeting the NCAA, the Big 12, the official Colorado Buffaloes football channel, and the NCAA.
In response, Rispress said to Vigil, “Wrong man, brother, nice try y’all been catfished. Before you embarrassed your program by tweeting this, you might have gotten in touch with me. Rispress swiftly refuted the accusations, stating that someone who misrepresented Colorado had approached the applicant in issue. While some agreed with Rispress, others thought the Colorado football coach was trying to hide his tracks by lying. Nevertheless, accusations of tampering have thrust Rispress, head coach Deion Sanders, and the Buffs back into the public eye.
