Pundit claims Rangers will face more disruption on home games due to building work delay.

Derek Ferguson is worried that delays in building work would cause the Rangers to miss even more home games at Ibrox when the new season begins.

The Light Blues announced on June 20 that a series of home games to start the campaign will be affected by problems with a material shipment, dropping a bombshell into Philippe Clement’s summer rebuild.

The “ridiculous scenario” that will compel the Light Blues to play away from Ibrox infuriates Ferguson, who thinks it might even be worse than previously thought.

The former Giants midfielder has been informed that there may be more than six home games affected due to worries that the work may have an adverse effect on the field even after the Copland Stand building is completed.

“Somewhere behind the scenes, people that are in charge of certain things, organizational things, are just not doing their jobs,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“Where is this metal fragment originating from? Asia? Could you not get something from Govan, which is two minutes away, and the ship building across the street?

It’s an absurd situation. People are claiming six games, but from what I’ve heard, there may be more when they arrive. Is the pitch going to be impacted as well because I’m sure the building work will require them to be on it?

Even if the building work may turn out to be a non-issue if the Light Blues team with the new look start the season strongly, when match day revenue and travel expenses are included in, it will still probably be an unwelcome financial hit.

However, the early timetable disturbance makes it difficult for Philippe Clement to get his squad going right away, just as the scheduling conflicts surrounding the trip to Dundee last term didn’t seem to have a beneficial impact. If performances and results are poor, it will also be difficult to ignore the issue.

It would be more than sufficient to have six games away from Ibrox and the renowned support of the 50,000 spectators in the stands; however, if that number rises while the inability to play at home continues, it will be extremely frustrating.

Although it is a huge setback that the construction project hasn’t proceeded as planned, it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise if there are still delays.
