The youthful stars Trent Toelau, Luke Sommerton, Billy Phillips, Luron Patea, and Billy Scott have all had their contracts extended, the club has revealed.

Hooker Luke Sommerton has been promoted from a development contract to a Top 30 contract for the 2025 season after playing in four NRL games.

Additionally, playmaker Tent Toelau, who has already made his NRL debut, has agreed to an extended contract with the Panthers. Before switching to a Top 30 deal in 2026, he will play on a development contract for the upcoming season.

Billy Scott and Luron Patea, two former U19 NSW Blues representatives, have both signed to new contracts that will last through the end of the 2027 campaign.

While Scott will be on a development contract for the upcoming season before joining the Top 30 roster for the 2026 and 2027 campaigns, Patea has been promoted to the roster of the best 30 players right away.

In addition, Billy Phillips, 20, has extended his contract with the club for three more years. He will train with the team full-time before being included to the Top 30 roster for the 2027 NRL season.

General Manager of Football Shane Elford of the Panthers released a statement saying, “On behalf of everyone at Panthers, I’d like to congratulate these five players on re-signing with the club.”

“These young players all deserve their contract extensions since they have shown greatness over the last few seasons.

“They are fantastic young men who are committed to their rugby league careers in addition to being talented football players. We look forward to following their development while wearing Panthers colors.”
