After disclosing over the weekend that his son DeAndre had committed suicide, Roy Jones Jr. has announced the untimely death of his son.

‘Unfortunately, my son DeAndre took his life Saturday,’ the boxing legend said in an Instagram statement. God gave me the opportunity to return home on Friday night and spend his final night with my family, for which I am incredibly grateful.

Nothing justifies ending one’s own life, even if I am aware that many individuals are suffering through difficult situations at the moment. It is given by God, and only God has the right to take it away.

While my family and I are grieving, kindly respect our privacy. I am grateful for your love and support.

Jones and his wife Natlyn had three children, of whom DeAndre was one.
