JUST IN: Los Angeles Rams’ first-round pick from 2012, a stand out defender, Michael Brockers, declares retirement

After more than ten years in the NFL, a standout defender for the Los Angeles Rams is retiring from the game. Following a season of idleness, the 33-year-old made the move.

In a post on his Instagram account, Michael Brockers, the No. 14 choice of the Rams in the 2012 NFL Draft, declared his retirement:

I must thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, first and foremost. I sincerely appreciate all of my fans’ support over the past 11 wonderful years, both for my family and myself. I would want to express my gratitude to the Rams and Lions organizations for allowing me to represent their teams. For shaping me into the player I was, I also want to thank my coaches and teammates.

This game is lovely since it incorporates elements of real life, and now is the moment for me to learn to be at ease in uncomfortable situations in order to fully grasp this thing we call life. To everyone I know and to everyone I don’t, my life motto will always be “Don’t get ready, stay ready!” God be praised!

In 2021, the Rams dealt Brockers to the Detroit Lions.

Through the 2020 season, the standout defensive tackle was a member of the Rams roster. The Rams sent Brockers to the Detroit Lions in March 2021 in exchange for a seventh-round selection. Before being cut by the Lions in February 2023, he was a player with them for two seasons.

Throughout his career, Brockers appeared in 160 games, starting 157 of them. 52 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, 29 sacks, and 451 tackles were all recorded by him.
