Hawks set to keep hold of the top pick in the draft in 2024.

Less than a week remains until the 2024 NBA Draft, meaning the Atlanta Hawks have officially run out of time. By moving up to the first overall pick in the draft lottery, they were quite fortunate. Atlanta will be selected first in the draft for just the second time in franchise history. The only other occasion was when David Thompson was chosen first overall in 1975.

Rumors have circulated widely suggesting that Atlanta has received approaches from other clubs to trade up for the first pick. The San Antonio Spurs have been the primary team mentioned in trade-up rumors.

According to Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San Antonio, the Hawks are leaning toward keeping the first overall choice despite the trade rumors.

When asked whether Atlanta was interested in trading back in the draft, Landry Fields, the general manager of the Hawks, confirmed this claim as well.

Fields appeared to be keeping onto the pick, but he did leave the door open to potentially trading it even with this statement. The Hawks still need to decide who they will select first overall if they decide to hold onto the choice.
