Due to his ties to Derby County, Josh Murphy’s father is now dropping his “preference” for him.

Josh Murphy, a winger for Oxford United, has drawn interest from Derby County, and now his father has provided an update on his future.

Paul Warne wants to add attacking talent to his Derby team in preparation for a demanding Championship season.
If the Rams want to stay in the division, they need to have firepower because they scored the same amount of goals as teams who finished in the top six of League One the previous season.

Charlton Athletic’s prolific scorer Alfie May and Sheffield Wednesday’s Josh Windass have been linked to Derby, and we exclusively disclosed that Oxford winger Josh Murphy is a target.

The former Norwich City player, who scored two goals in the play-off final to propel Oxford into the second division, is drawing interest from six Championship teams.

Murphy, who finished the season with 10 goals and six assists in all competitions, has a contract offered to him, according to U’s coach Des Buckingham. However, Murphy’s father has now given an even more significant signal about his future.

Dad of Josh Murphy shares his “preference” following connections to Derby County

After witnessing his son secure a brace, Murphy’s father, John, called their day at Wembley for Oxford’s 2-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers, “one of the best of his life.”

The 29-year-old is content at his present team and is eager to play football in the Championship the next season.

Even though there is a lot of interest in hiring him, particularly since his contract is about to expire, John Murphy has dispelled the first rumors about him by saying the manager has brought out the best in him and that he would “prefer” to stay at Oxford.

He stated, according to the Oxford Mail: “I think he has gotten the best out of Josh, and the manager [Des Buckingham] and Josh work really well together. Des trusts Josh.”

Josh’s son Aaro, who was born in October, and his excellent partner have made a big difference.

Everything just came together at the perfect moment.

“It wasn’t the best first year at Oxford, but I think that at Wembley, anyone could have taken that.”

The kind of winger Derby County needs is Josh Murphy.

Murphy could stay at Oxford, therefore it appears doubtful that he would join with Derby this summer. If he does decide to go, other teams seem like a better offer.

It’s precisely someone like Murphy who Warne needs to bring into his team this summer.

The Englishman is endowed with lightning-fast pace and accurate dribbling, two qualities that Derby desperately needs in the last third of the game.

It’s likely that Warne will consider some younger players as he has expressed a desire to add more agility to his team. As a result, a few quick attackers should be added this summer.
