BREAKING: Derby County’s desired championship talent gets a renewed deal from present club

The team of a Championship player connected to Derby County has extended an offer of contract to him.

After a two-year break, Derby County is making a comeback to the Championship. Paul Warne led the Rams to a second-place finish in League One in 2023–2024.

Though Birmingham City was demoted despite having 50 points this season, the Championship will likely be more difficult than it was when the Rams were last in it.

In order to provide Derby County the resources they need to avoid the drop the next season, Warne will therefore need to bolster the quality and depth of his squad this summer.

Additionally, a number of players, notably loanee Ebou Adams and goalie Viktor Johansson, have been linked to the Rams.

Josh Windass, a striker for Sheffield Wednesday, is reportedly another target. The 30-year-old’s contract with the team expires this summer after four seasons.

Sheffield Wednesday extends a contract to Josh Windass.

Although Windass did not specify whether he would remain at Hillsborough, he had previously disclosed that his agent was in discussions with Sheffield Wednesday regarding his future.
However, Windass has already been offered a new contract, as the Owls revealed on Friday when they unveiled their retained list.

In 135 appearances overall for Wednesday, the former Wigan Athletic and Rangers player has 40 goals and 17 assists.

After scoring in each of his team’s final three games to help the Owls overcome the drop, Windass also scored the goal that sent Sheffield Wednesday into the Championship at this time last year.

Derby County’s potential position about Josh Windass

Not just Derby County, but also Hull City, Stoke City, and West Brom have shown their appreciation for Windass ahead of the summer.

Also, anticipate that all of the teams that are connected to him have heard about the contract offer made on Wednesday and will be monitoring his decision to stay with the organization longer.

He’s a skilled striker with Championship experience who had a strong season finale, making him a valuable asset for several second-tier teams, particularly Derby County.

James Collins, Martyn Waghorn, and Dwight Gayle are all free agents this summer, and Warne predicts that the Rams will make their retained list announcement shortly.

Derby will undoubtedly have a lengthy list of strikers on their want list, and Windass is undoubtedly one of them. The Rams should continue to show interest in Windass, and Warne’s team might strike fast if he turns down a new contract offer from Sheffield Wednesday.

And with everyone’s attention on him, it would have to happen quickly. However, Warne will be signing a proven Championship striker if he can get this one through.
