BREAKING NEWS: Montreal Canadiens officially seals three-year, entry-level contract with Oliver Kapanen.

General manager of the Montreal Canadiens Kent Hughes revealed on Saturday that the team and  forward, Oliver Kapanen.  have reached an agreement on a three-year, entry-level deal (2024–25 to 2026-27).

With KalPa Kuopio in the Liiga, Kapanen participated in 51 games this season, recording 14 goals and 20 assists. The native of Timrå, Sweden added 14 points (7 G, 7 A) in 13 postseason games, placing second in goals and first among all players in terms of points (tied with four others).

Moreover, Kapanen played for Finland in the 2024 IIHF World Championship, leading his squad with six goals in eight contests. In terms of goals, the 20-year-old centerman tied for sixth place with four other players.

The Canadiens chose Kapanen in the second round (64th overall) in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
