BREAKING NEWS: Florida State 4-star QB commit Tramell Jones shuts down recruitment.
Tramell Jones, a four-star quarterback from Jacksonville Mandarin and a Florida State commit, thought about planning an official visit to the state. If he had, he said to Gators Online, it would have happened around the weekend of June 14.
That formal visit never took place. The Florida State commit has now stopped accepting recruits.
Jones posted on social media, saying, “I would like to thank God for putting me in this situation and for everyone that recruited me throughout this process.” “I’m going to stop recruiting after that!”
Over a year ago, the 6-foot-0, 195-pound Jones committed to the Seminoles and has since been a mainstay in FSU’s seven-man recruiting class.
Throughout the process, he has steadily moved up the rankings, and the On3 Industry Ranking, which is a weighted average that takes into account all four of the major recruitment media organizations, currently ranks him as the No. 307 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle. In addition, he is ranked No. 44 in Florida and No. 26 among quarterbacks.
Jones was invited to this month’s Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles. Charles Power, the On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings, states that he placed ninth overall in the competition. Jones also received the title of “Smoothest Release” superlative.
At the Elite 11 Finals, Mell Jones displayed one of the tightest releases, according to Power. The Mandarin signal-caller from Jacksonville, Florida, had a precise throw technique and released the ball faster than any other quarterback present. Every day, Jones was a Top Performer. His skill set as a pocket passer with good mechanical soundness fits the situation perfectly. He was accurate every day, culminating on Thursday in the 7-on-7 game where he completed 15 of 18 passes for three touchdowns and two interceptions.
