Mixed Reactions in Atlanta as Michael Penix Jr. set to join Atlanta Falcons.

After receiving his rookie contract, quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is now formally a member of the Atlanta Falcons. The contract itself, though, has elicited a wide range of opinions from followers on social media.
3 reasons why Michael Penix Jr. could play in 2024 (and 2 he won't)
Penix had an encouraging but troubled collegiate career at Indiana University, missing a lot of games due to recurrent ACL tears. He played in just 3 games in 2018 before having to redshirt because of an ACL tear. He made a comeback to the starting quarterback position in 2019 and 2020, displaying his skill when fit, although he missed a lot of time due to more knee issues.

After transferring to the University of Washington in 2021, the quarterback became a star there. He established the single-season passing record for UW in 2022 and led the FBS in passing yards per game. Penix excelled in his final year, leading the Huskies to a perfect regular season, a CFP semifinal win, and a trip to the national title game—which they almost missed.

He finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting and was awarded the Maxwell Award for his outstanding 2023 campaign. The Atlanta Falcons, who had recently acquired great quarterback Kirk Cousins, chose him eighth overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The revelation that Penix Jr. has signed a four-year contract worth $22.88 million with the Falcons was just revealed by Jordan Schultz on X. Fans responded by sharing their opinions—both positive and negative—about this most recent development.
