Celtic could ‘sail away’ from Rangers says Sutton.

According to former striker Chris Sutton, Celtic are well-positioned to leave rivals Rangers in the dust for a very long time.

Following their successful double-winning campaign, Celtic are now managed by Brendan Rodgers, a guy who has won nine trophies in his nine years as Bhoys manager.

With ample resources, a desire to make improvements in the transfer market, and another season of UEFA Champions League riches secured, Sutton believes that Celtic has a great chance to distinguish themselves from the Ibrox team.

Although there haven’t been any notable additions at the Bhoys, Celtic is anticipated to make significant moves in the upcoming days, weeks, and months.

Sutton sees Celtic’s opportunity to put a “chasm” between themselves and their opponents and have more success the following year.

“Brendan Rodgers had a gulf between him and Rangers first time around,” he stated [Daily Record]. He has a great chance to open up another rift if Celtic, who were pushed for a while by the Ibrox club last season, get it right this summer. Now that the club has returned for preseason training and the manager is in a significantly stronger position than he was a year ago, stage two of Rodgers’ second stint is well under way.

“Rodgers and Celtic have a genuine chance to defeat Rangers and reclaim that elusive mark when playing the best teams on the continent if they make the right decisions over the next few months. Let’s be clear: you should never glance past the fence. Celtic doesn’t care about what the Rangers are doing. They will, and they must, mind their own business. However, it appears to us outsiders that they have a fantastic chance to establish an edge over their main competitors.

“Achieving that championship the previous season has added an additional £40 million to Parkhead’s coffers while also keeping money out of the Ibrox coffers.” That significantly limits what any team can accomplish in this transfer window and offers Celtic a tremendous opportunity to advance. The fact that Philippe Clement’s superiors don’t seem to be very smart when it comes to renovating portions of the stadium isn’t helping him in his quest to rebuild his team.

“They may realistically achieve that desired European impact and leave Rangers well behind locally if they make those wise transfer decisions. After defeating them in the Scottish Cup Final the previous season, Celtic’s city rivals now have 55 trophies between them. With all the talk from Ibrox about their club winning 55 during Steven Gerrard’s reign, Rodgers should be able to lead his team to title No. 55 this coming season. He has the chance to lead Celtic past their fiercest competitors in terms of total hardware won. Additionally, sail them off into the distance.

It will not be a simple task to execute the transfer action correctly. Due to the competitive nature of the market, Celtic will have competition for players that European teams are looking for.

It is evident from Rodgers’ statements that he will only recruit players to his team that improve the caliber of his options as a whole. Talents won’t show up merely to pad the stats.

However, Celtic needs to remain resolute in their pursuit of their goals. They have the means, as Sutton noted, to guarantee that discussions about seven-figure fees proceed without hiccups.

This summer, nobody wants to witness someone quibbling over a few hundred thousand here and there. Get the players the manager desires, and position Celtic for further dominance.
