Miami Dolphins center Connor Williams return unlikely to happen> Agent.

Center Connor Williams, a free agent, is focused on securing a spot before training camp after recovering from a knee injury that ended his second season with the Dolphins. It appears improbable that Williams would rejoin the team.
The 49ers Should Sign Connor Williams
During an interview on WSVN on Sunday night, Williams’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, provided analysis of the player’s circumstances.

Rosenhaus remarked, “I’m sure Connor would be open to it, but I wouldn’t think that’s likely he would return here with the Dolphins.”

“The Dolphins did sign a fine center in Aaron Brewer from the Tennessee Titans and made a significant investment, but I certainly wouldn’t rule anything out.” Connor will likely sign as a center, in my opinion.

Williams, 27, was a guard for the Dallas Cowboys who performed at a very high level. Butch Barry, Frank Smith, and Mike McDaniel had other ideas once he signed with Miami, and they moved the 6’5, 317-pound player to center, where he would go on to play some of his best football of all time.

Williams only saw 497 snaps in nine games with the Dolphins in 2023, according to Pro Football Focus. Despite this, he only gave up one sack during the entire season, finishing with a 90.5 run-blocking grade and a 71.7 pass-blocking mark. Among the team’s best overall player grades was his 86.5.

In 2022, Williams’ first season as a starting center, he played 1056 snaps and gave up nine sacks. He had three grades at the end of the year: 78.2 overall, 69.1 pass-blocking, and 85.1 run-blocking. My argument is that Williams still has the opportunity to play at his best as a center.

I’ll be the first to agree that he’s one of the top centers in football, so I’m ready to give him the benefit of the doubt despite the fact that his one real problem from his two seasons with Miami was his occasionally inconsistent snapping.

In the end, the Dolphins might benefit from having a player of Williams’ talent on their offensive line to play center and guard. Regretfully for Miami, the likelihood that Connor Williams will be wearing uniforms for a different team in 2024 is dimmer every day. To be honest, even if he doesn’t play for our beloved Dolphins, I’m happy to watch him pursue his career following his season-ending injury.
