Adam Pope, a reporter for BBC Sport, has suggested that Leeds United could make a permanent purchase of Bournemouth’s Jaidon Anthony this summer.

In 2023–2024, Anthony was loaned to Elland Road as part of a transaction that sent Luis Sinisterra to Bournemouth in the other direction.

Prior to heading back to the South Coast, the 24-year-old had a difficult time playing last season, starting just two Championship games and scoring just one goal from outside the area.

But given that Jack Harrison is expected to return to Everton for a second loan stay and that several other attackers are rumored to be leaving, he might be useful come playoff time.

Pope noted in a post for BBC Sport’s Leeds transfer blog on June 19 at 4:08 p.m. that Anthony is now far down Bournemouth’s priority list and that it might be wise for him to leave this summer.

“How big is the case to bring the 24-year-old back on a permanent deal?” Pope said, considering that Jack Harrison is anticipated to extend his loan at Everton and that [Crysencio] Summerville is expected to depart in the summer.

“After a year of working with [Daniel] Farke, he is familiar with his methods and the standards at the club.” Anthony’s ability to finish the championship distance serves as proof.

“Anthony has experience; he was signed by Arsenal for ten years before moving to Bournemouth in 2016.” Although he has a contract with the Cherries through 2027, he might spend his best years yet somewhere if this summer’s offer is perfect.

Although Anthony didn’t have much of an influence in 2023–24, Leeds had several of choices in the last third. But, should Summerville go, he will have one less player in front of him if the winger comes back.

It will depend on who else leaves Elland Road this summer as to whether Leeds should make a play for Anthony. In the event that another attacker leaves, like Gnonto, he would be a wise investment.

Although some fans would find it difficult to get too thrilled about that prospect, Farke is familiar with the player, so it won’t take him long to adjust.

Though officially a Premier League player, Anthony would still be considered a coup in that sense.

In the end, Leeds supporters would much rather maintain Summerville and Gnonto, but Anthony should definitely be taken into consideration if this worst-case scenario comes to pass and they both depart.
