DONE DEAL: Rangers and Connor Barron finally in agreement to bring the Aberdeen starlet to Ibrox.

Out of contract Aberdeen star Connor Barron has reportedly agreed to seal his signature with Rangers despite interest from across Europe.

The 21-year-old Barron will be departing Pittodrie at the end of his contract, the Dons confirmed after Record Sport revealed last week that the Light Blues increased their bid to recruit him on a freedom of contract. With teams vying for Barron’s services including Bologna, Hellas Verona, Plymouth, Stoke, Cardiff, and Swansea, Rangers made a better offer. As a result, it looks like Barron will be joining Aberdeen’s Scottish Premiership opponents this summer.

According to The Rangers Review, Philippe Clement is “eager” to incorporate the midfielder in his squad makeover, and the Ibrox team is “poised” to finalize the signing after “winning the race” for the free agency this summer. Rangers are said to have “seen off” the competition from Italy and England, and Clement is expected to sign a fourth player this summer.

It’s probable that a deal will be completed before the Rangers resume preseason practice on Monday. If he had moved outside of Scotland, the Dons would have been entitled to almost £525,000 in training compensation. However, if he joined the Light Blues, the Scottish clubs would have to agree on compensation or risk having a tribunal step in to set a price.

It doesn’t seem plausible that Barron will be the final newcomer to enter. After Euro 2024 concludes, Liam Kelly is anticipated to arrive at Ibrox as negotiations regarding Bayern Munich forward Yusuf Kadabayi continue.
