Former Celtic star Charlie Mulgrew confirmed as Hamilton Accies U18 coach as he aims to ‘foster culture of excellence’

Hamilton Accies has confirmed the appointment of Charlie Mulgrew, a former Scotland international and star of Celtic, as their new Under-18s coach.

Lanarkshire Live Sport exclusively revealed that Accies had agreed to a deal for the 38-year-old to take charge of the highly regarded youth team. Accies have announced that he will work under newly appointed youth supremo Gordon Young, who was announced as the replacement for George Cairns last night.

Mulgrew joins the South Lanarkshire club with a plethora of experience, having played in the Champions League and made over 150 appearances for Celtic, one of the top leagues in Europe. In addition to his five Premiership titles and two Scottish Cups during his time at the Hoops, he also played in the English Championship for Blackburn and Wigan and had stints in the top flight with Aberdeen and Dundee United.

And Accies hope that level of expertise in the game will aid in the future success of their young setup. “Charlie Mulgrew, a former Scotland international football player, has been appointed as the newest member of the coaching staff at Hamilton Academical FC. He will be responsible for the club’s Under 18 Elite Youth Academy team,” a statement from the club stated.

Mulgrew brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this crucial role. His remarkable career includes 44 international caps and performances at the highest level of the game in the Champions League.

His 44 appearances for the Scotland National Team have showcased his talent, dedication, and leadership on the field.
