Carmel (Calif.) four-star offensive tackle Jackson Lloyd has committed to Alabama. He rejected USC and Ohio State in favor of the Crimson Tide.

Over the weekend, Lloyd returned to Tuscaloosa for his formal visit; this year, the Golden State recruit has now visited T-Town three times. But since he committed to the visit and made his announcement on Tuesday, it turned out to be the lucky charm this time.

According to On3, the 6-foot-6, 280-pound player is a significant rankings anomaly. He was ranked as the No. 29 overall prospect in the country and the No. 6 tackle prospect in the most current On300 rankings. He is ranked as a top-100 talent by none other recruiting service. In February, Charles Power, On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings, gave Lloyd a lot of praise:

Jackson Lloyd seems to be by far the best offensive guard on the West Coast. He’s a guy from Carmel, California, on the Monterey Peninsula, which is not a popular destination for college recruiters. He’s a little bit of an outsider. This player fits the description of a high-upside, projectable offensive tackle. three-sport athlete who competes at a high level in basketball and baseball. doesn’t compete against the best, yet the movie is really uplifting. 6 feet 6 inches, 280 pounds, with a rumored wingspan of 7 feet, and an extremely light-footed, fluid, and coordinated athlete. As one could expect from a top prospect facing that caliber of opposition, the film is dominant.

His multisport resume is rather encouraging as well; he is a very skilled high school basketball player. I believe that his weight bearing and movement are excellent for the role. He undoubtedly belongs in this exclusive category; after viewing the junior film, we learned about him and gathered data, and concluded that he was the best OL on the West Coast.

Lloyd helps Alabama continues summer hot streak.
