BREAKING NEWS: Crisis at Ibrox as the Management Team set to make major changes.

Rangers are expected to make changes to the medical department behind the scenes this summer, according to Chris Jack.

The journalist stated in his June 17 Q&A for the Rangers Review website that every employee and procedure at Ibrox should be reviewed, with action being regarded likely, given the injury problem from the previous season.

Soon after taking over the Gers last year, Philippe Clement expressed his dissatisfaction with the number of players routinely ruled out and called for increased use of the club’s cryochamber to help address it [Scottish Sun, October 31]. However, the situation did not improve much during the season, so Jack says that “changes are expected” concurrently with the manager’s squad overhaul.

Millions of pounds were wasted on players that were unable to contribute during the campaign, and it was evident that Clement was displeased with what he discovered and had to deal with. Something needs to shift.

This summer, top players like Ryan Jack and Kemar Roofe were free to leave Ibrox because they were just not available on a regular enough basis to warrant the expenditure.

However, Rangers’ injury problems go much beyond just the two seasoned players; during the previous two seasons, young players have frequently been unable to play.

Ridvan Yilmaz, Tom Lawrence, Danilo, Oscar Cortes, and Kieran Dowell were all largely absent from the previous John Souttar campaign, while Abdallah Sima missed several months while making a significant total contribution.

It is impossible for Clement and his team to avoid criticism for fighting their way to the lead in the championship chase only to miss out on the opportunity to win the first Scottish Premiership in three years towards the end of the campaign.

However, it is reasonable to question if Celtic would have been fired if the manager had ever had his entire roster available for an extended length of time and important players hadn’t been injured at pivotal moments.

Whatever can be done to address what has become a common occurrence under consecutive managers must undoubtedly be done, even though it is undoubtedly easier said than done.
