Can Texas Enter The SEC And Win Right Away?

At the most recent “College Football Smothered and Covered” episode, Barrett Sallee of SiriusXM made a significant prediction about Texas as the Longhorns prepare to join the SEC.

Sallee believes Texas has what it takes to win the conference in its inaugural season in the SEC. He feels that the Longhorns, with their appearance in the College Football Playoffs the previous season, had done more than enough to establish themselves ahead of the 2024 college football season.

Please don’t tell me that Texas isn’t prepared for the SEC. They’re constructed like an SEC squad,” Sallee remarked. “They’ve advanced to the College Football Playoff and defeated one of the titans of SEC football. a four-team College Football Playoff, and with a late push, they almost won the national semifinal.”

Steve Sarkisian’s record at Texas has been brought up by some supporters, but Sallee defended the fourth-year head coach against the doubters.

Therefore, no, Sark’s record does not necessarily indicate that he is among the best coaches in the nation. However, what do you do? It can take some time for head coaches to discover who they are,” Sallee remarked. What sort of person are you, and what kind of coach are you? That applies to Steve Sarkisian on a number of levels.

In his first three seasons with the Longhorns, Sarkisian is 25-14, with the program’s first-ever trip in the College Football Playoffs. In 2009, he guided the Longhorns to their first conference championship.

Texas might have an easier time qualifying for the College Football Playoff now that the format has been expanded. Still, if the Longhorns could win an SEC championship in their inaugural campaign, that would be really outstanding.
